Our Comment

Of all the many pages we have on this website the most controversial is the Dog Breed page. This is not surprising as it does not seem to matter what the breed of the dog is there is always someone who will defend it as a most loving and gentle companion. We at FindTheBestHere agree that given the right circumstances most any dog will behave in an acceptable manner and be able to blend into a family situation with little or no concern. The problem is that not all circumstances are the same, there are situations when animals are raised in less that ideal conditions with little training (or the wrong training) that can turn a dog into a vicious unmanageable terror.

The purpose of our Dog Breed section is to guide the novice potential dog owner, someone who has little experience in the handling and care of dogs. In no way do we expect to change the minds of long-time dog owners and trainers, those who have developed deep affection and understanding of a particular breed. For example, a poorly handled American Staffordshire Terrier has much greater potential to cause injury than a poorly handled Beagle. It is our contention that only someone who has the experience should consider owning a potentially dangerous animal, certainly not someone with little training or familiarity.

We do not profess to be experts in this field, what we have done is taken information from very credible sources and analyzed that data, our conclusions are based on that information. What we did find is that it is very difficult to find derogatory comments from prestigious Kennel Clubs as they consistently refuse to point out negative characteristics on any particular dog breed. The position taken by the American Kennel Club, Westminster Kennel Club and others is obviously political, not wanting to attract any negative comments from their members. In our opinion it is potentially dangerous in that they are encouraging ownership of a pet not suitable in many situations.

Please use this site as a guide to narrow down your search for the right dog for you. Once you have determined the breed you must then do more research which is readily available on the internet. We would also strongly suggest that you consider professional training if you do not have experience, this will make life for you and the dog much more enjoyable. In addition, and most importantly, make sure you are purchasing your puppy form a reputable dealer, one with accreditation with a long establish kennel club, this will help in ensuring the long-term health of your dog.
